Indigenous Walks: Indigenous Presence in Downtown Ottawa

Indigenous Walks is a walk-and-talk tour through downtown Ottawa exploring architecture, landscape, artwork, and monuments from an Indigenous perspective. Throughout the pandemic, many new additions have been made to the downtown Elgin Street core adding to the the Indigenous Presence in Ottawa on Anishnaabe Territory.

We'll meet in the lobby at 150 Elgin St. (former headquarters of Shopify), near the corner of Elgin and Gloucester. The walk will stay within the Elgin St and Laurier area.


As noted, we will be indoors for a short period at the beginning of the walk. Participants are advised to wear masks.

About the walk leader

Jaime Morse (Koebel) is the owner of Indigenous Walks and has been guiding tours since 2014. Jane’s Walk Ottawa-Gatineau was a launching pad for Indigenous Walks’ very first tours. The tour is a way for Jaime to share her research, stories, and explorations of the city with folks who are interested in an Indigenous perspective. As well as guiding walking tours, Jaime is a mother, a dancer, and an Educator at the National Gallery of Canada.
