Wild Food in the City: Urban Foraging

In its seventh year, this fun and informative plant walk introduces participants to the wonderful wild and weedy plants growing in the urban environment that can be used as food and medicine. We`ll discuss how to identify wild plants, their edible, medicinal, and other traditional uses as well as proper harvesting & processing practices, methods of preparation, and wildcrafting & foraging ethics. Come out and meet the weeds!

Location
Route

Windsor Park is just east of Riverdale Ave. along the north bank of the Rideau River.  From Bank St. and Riverdale, which is the first intersection on the north end of Billings Bridge, take Riverdale north to Belmont Ave., and turn right.   Turn right again at Garrett Place to access the parking lot.  There is also an entrance to the park from Windsor Ave. or on foot or by bicycle from the recreational pathway along the north bank of the Rideau River.

We will meet in the parking lot, and venture out from there.
