Heritage Properties of Hintonburg

This walk begins at the 100-year-old Parkdale Market, across from a former industrial complex and a neighbourhood tavern. The tour continues along Armstrong and up McCormick Ave to Wellington St West. Featured will be several heritage properties in Hintonburg, three health-care institutions, commercial/residential properties as well as a church, a school, and a former Chinese laundry. We'll finish up at the former Crawley Film Studio and what was the original Firehall #1 building on Fairmount Ave. Throughout, you will learn about the evolution of Hintonburg from farmland to streetcar suburb and from a stand-alone village to the present day eclectic and vibrant urban neighbourhood.
