Charlie Bowins Skateboard Park

Charlie Bowins Skateboard Park is a local landmark and a mecca for skateboarders. The park is named in commemoration of a local skateboarder who used to teach Ottawa youth to skateboard and who was instrumental in establishing the skateboarding community in Ottawa.

This walk will look at skateboarding as an activity, the skateboarding community, why skateboard parks are important, what it took for McNabb and the other parks to be approved and built, and the community work that's done through the skateboarding community in Ottawa, such as  Girls+ Skate 613 and For Pivot's Sake.

If you have stories at the intersection of Ottawa and skateboarding, bring them along.
