In this tour we will walk from the National War Memorial down Elgin Street, ending at "Enclave," the Women's Monument in Minto Park. Along this stretch of Elgin Street we will visit many well-known and more obscure monuments—twelve in total. I will discuss the history of the monuments as well as moments in their lives: moments of protest, defacement, and annual rituals.
We'll meet at the National War Memorial in Confederation Square (Wellington & Elgin Sts). From there, we'll walk south on Elgin to Minto Park (Gilmour St), and then through the park toward Cartier St.

Tonya Davidson is a sociologist at Carleton University. Her long-term research interest has been on Ottawa statues. This tour is the result of that research.
