Wild Food in the City: Urban Foraging

“Foraging, wildcrafting medicine, and other such pursuits connect us to the wild world and create a bond, one that deepens with use. The critical need for preserving native plants and their habitats cannot be fully realized without interacting with them (i.e., viewing them from afar does not reveal their full value to people).” ―Arthur Haines
This popular plant walk invites participants to experience up close the wonderful wild and weedy plants growing in the urban environment that can be used for food, medicine, and craft. We`ll discuss how to identify wild plants, their edible, medicinal, and other traditional uses, as well as proper harvesting & processing practices, methods of preparation, and the ethics of gathering wild plants. Come out and meet the weeds!
