Downtown Dating with Disabilitie

Downtown Ottawa is a key location for going out on a date. But how does having a disability change this common activity?

Route
From the NAC, we will walk up to the Chateau Laurier, down Rideau St. to the William St pedestrian mall. We'll take William St north to the ByWard Market Building. From the north end of the Market Building, we'll go west on York St. to Sussex St., and across to the York St. steps. After determining how to deal with the obstacle of the steps, we will walk north to the National Galley.
About the walk leader
Linda is married to a person living with a disability. She is an activist who has spoken out on disability issues. Having gone on many dates with her husband in downtown Ottawa, she hopes to offer people a glimpse of what it is like to go on a date in downtown Ottawa with someone in a wheelchair.

We are trying to make arrangements to have wheelchairs available for people to experience this tour the way a person with a disability would. If you would like to try out using a wheelchair for this walk, we recommend coming with a partner to assist in pushing, and then you can swap partway through.
