Local Confectionarie

This walk will take us through an urban community with a focus on the corner stores that can be found every few blocks.  We will consider the unique character of each store, what it contributes to the character of its neighbourhood, and how that particular neighbourhood influences the character of the shop. 

Location
Route

Starting at Somerset & Preston, we will walk north on Preston to Elm St., then east on Elm to Rochester, south on Rochester to Balsam. We'll  backtrack one block north to Willow, then go east on Willow to Booth, where the walk ends.  We'll visit various corner stores along the way.

About the walk leader

Colin White is an illustrator and artist with an interest in street life and architecture. Colin has been freelancing in Ottawa for six years, and has exhibited his work in solo shows and group exhibits. During the summer and fall, Colin is often found out on the street sketching.

Some of Colin's artwork will be on display at Jane's Talk, Thursday, May 2, 7:00 - 9:00 pm, at TAN Cafe in Sandy Hill. (317 Wilbrod St at Friel.)
