Trees in the Glebe

Figure:  The route our walk will take.

We'll take a walk through the Glebe neighbourhood and will focus on observing and learning about the different types of trees that grow there. We will discuss the characteristics of specific types of trees, as well as fundamentals of tree ownership and tree care, and the value of trees to home owners, the community, and the city.

Ecology Ottawa is a not-for-profit, grassroots, volunteer-driven organization working to make Ottawa the green capital of Canada. Ecology Ottawa's Tree Ottawa Local Improvement Project will inspire and empower residents to better appreciate and care for urban trees. Neighbourhood Teams, working within the context of the Ecology Ottawa Community Network, will plant trees in their community, engage residents to adopt and care for stressed trees, and help to harvest fruit and nuts from existing trees.

Ecology Ottawa is a sponsor/partner of Jane's Walk Ottawa. You can find out more about Ecology Ottawa here.

The Glebe Community Association, through its committees and members, unites residents interested in improving their neighbourhood. The Environment, Heritage and Parks Committees will participate in the Jane’s walk to answer questions and provide some history and context to our discussion about trees in the Glebe.
