Inside 200 Lees Avenue: A guided tour of the Faculty of Health Sciences at uOttawa

Cette promenade a également lieu en français.

In 2023, the University of Ottawa inaugurated the Faculty of Health Sciences building, a state-of-the-art facility with modern architecture, designed to empower the next generation of health-care providers, professionals and researchers to build healthier, more resilient communities. At 23,452 square metres — the equivalent of 19 Olympic-sized swimming pools — it’s the most sustainable building at uOttawa and was awarded LEED® Platinum certification, the highest level of certification in the LEED program.

Overlooking the Rideau River and surrounded by green spaces, this unique facility incorporates Algonquin design elements. Bike paths, secure bike storage and electric vehicle charging stations make it easy to choose sustainable transportation. The O-Train and the uOttawa shuttle also connect Lees seamlessly with the main campus.

With versatile spaces and laboratories equipped with the latest technology, the facility promises excellence in multidisciplinary research and in education. The building is home to more than 45 classrooms and teaching labs, as well as 20 research labs located at key points to promote organic collaboration across disciplines. It hosts the schools of Nursing, Nutrition Sciences, and Rehabilitation Sciences, all of which prepare students to pursue challenging careers in health and well-being and play a leading role in the health-care system.

We hope you will join us to tour this exciting new facility!
