The Byward Market: Inside Stories of Heritage Conservation

The walk will explore the history, delights, and current challenges to Ottawa’s well-loved By Ward Market. It will pose questions about the decline of the outdoor Farmer’s Market and the City of Ottawa’s rejuvenation strategy; it will visit the recently restored Ogilvy Department Store heritage facades on Rideau Street; pose questions about the impact of the new LRT Rideau Station opening in 2018; and explore the most recent changes in the NCC’s Sussex Drive heritage courtyard properties.
