Note: This walk is a repeat of Saturday's walk, 2:00--3:30 pm.

This guided walk and talk provides a layer to the nation's capital through the eyes of a Indigenous person. On the land of the Algonquin Peoples called Turtle Island, this tour will guide participants through Indigenous social, political, cultural and artistic spaces. From the totem pole in Confederation Park to the Three Watchmen sculpture near Major's Hill Park, you will get to know Ottawa like you have never known it before.

Trajet

Starting at the Human Rights Monument, we'll walk north on Elgin to Wellington St. and then west on Wellington to the Library and Archives.

Your tour guide, Jaime Koebel is a knowledgeable and experienced educator who will walk you through parts of downtown Ottawa to point out local landmarks and stories of interest from an Indigenous perspective. Jaime is an Otipemsiwak/Nehiyaw (Métis/Cree) woman originally from Lac La Biche, Alberta, living in Ottawa since 2000. She was motivated to do the walks for many reasons, however, her confidence to do the walk came from her time as an Educator at the National Gallery of Canada during the "Sakahàn - International Indigenous Art" exhibition where she gave art tours through the lens of the Indigenous experience in Canada and around the world. Accessibilité:

The walk will follow city sidewalks. There are steps up to the Human Rights Monument from the north side, but there is a ramp on the south side.
