Wild Food in the City: Urban Foraging

Photo: Salad preparation with wild greens.
Back for a third year, this fun weed walk introduces participants to all the wonderful, wild and weedy plants growing in an urban environment, that can be used as food and medicine.
We'll talk about:
- how to identify safe, common, bioregional plants
- their edible, medicinal and other traditional uses
- proper harvesting, processing and storage practices
- methods of preparation
- wildcrafting and foraging ethics
If you attended last year's walk, come back again and see what happened to the poison ivy patch and check out how the native wood nettle is doing. And this year, I'll introduce people to a salad plant that grows on trees!
