Jane's Walk at OAW 2024

Sat Sep 28, 2024 - Sun Oct 6, 2024

Jane's Walk is offering walking tours as part of the 2024 edition of Ottawa Architecture Week. This year's theme is "VACANC(IT)Y: Adapting Ottawa for a Complete Community." What opportunities are presented by the vacant spaces within the city (abandoned buildings, unused lots, under-used public spaces) to enhance community participation, identity, and engagement?

Jane's Walk is contributing three walks to OAW this year. These are listed below and with corresponding entries on the OAW events page. The overall OAW program is coming together on their website, and you can explore what they are planning at https://www.oawfest.com.

About Jane's Walk:

  • Our walks are led by volunteers and are free to attend. Check out Tips for Participants.
  • For OAW, we are asking participants to sign up to give us an estimate of attendance. Sign-up instructions are provided on the walk page.
  • When you sign up for a walk, you will receive email confirming your reservation. There is no need to cancel if you find you cannot attend.
  • Review our covid guidelines. View 2024 guidelines.

Indigenous Land Acknowledgement

While you walk, we encourage you to think about and acknowledge the land where we live, work, and walk. The Ottawa-Gatineau region is the traditional unceded territory of the Algonquin Anishinaabe people. The Algonquin People have inhabited and cared for these lands for millennia and we express our gratitude to and respect for them.

Self Guided & Virtual Walks

Jane's Walk Ottawa-Gatineau also has a number of walks that you can do on your own. Check them out!
