Jane's Walk 2020 postponed until Sept 12-13

Jane’s Walk Ottawa-Gatineau Postponed to Sept. 12–13, 2020
Alternative “walks” to be shared this spring

Tuesday, March 24, 2020

Following the advice of public health officials and the Jane’s Walk Steering Committee in response to COVID-19, we would like to inform you of changes to the Jane’s Walk Ottawa-Gatineau festival in 2020.

To support social distancing efforts and help flatten the curve, Jane’s Walk Ottawa-Gatineau will postpone our in-person festival until Sept. 12–13, 2020.  (This date is of course subject to review later in the summer as events unfold.)

In the meantime, we will be working with walk leaders to capture the essence of Jane’s Walk through alternative channels that allow us to maintain physical distance. This could mean self-directed walks, scavenger hunts, or online tours. Please stay tuned for more on this in the coming days!

The essence of Jane’s Walk — connecting people and their communities — is more important now than ever before. While we must stay apart physically, we will rise to the challenge to find new ways to connect and support each other through this isolating time.

We have been inspired by our own cities and communities around the world who have found creative ways to celebrate their cities together while respecting physical separation. Italians and Spaniards singing across balconies, neighbours supporting neighbours, and volunteer-led online groups organizing to help vulnerable populations access food and essential services. The spirit of local organizing, local engagement, and local expertise is alive and well.

Additional information about spring #socialdistancing alternative Jane’s Walks will be available in the coming days. Please follow our website and social media for updates:

Please feel free to reach out to us by email with any questions.
