Memories of the Village of Billings Bridge

Description

Billingsbridgemap1879

Billings Bridge was formerly a village in Gloucester Township. It was the location of Gloucester Town Hall from 1874 until 1962.   On this walk, we'll consider how the area has changed over the years, what landmarks that have disappeared, and what made this the most historic location in Gloucester Township.

Route

We'll be walking north along Bank Street starting at Randall Ave. past Billings Bridge Mall, crossing the bridge over the Rideau River to Riverdale Ave.  We may take a slight diversion at Riverside Drive.

About

Glenn Clark is currently President of the Gloucester Historical Society. He has a strong family connection to the Billings Bridge area, as both his maternal and paternal grandparents lived there for many years.
