Sociological Walk: Somerset West

Overview

Expect to get involved and even a little messy on this combination walking tour and experimental performance art piece in Ottawa's Chinatown area.

Description

Somerset&percy

Photo:  Somerset & Percy

This walk is a zig-zagging exploration of the social tapestry of the Somerset West community. Interactive and conversational, this Sociological Walk will give participants the chance to learn about the neighborhood in an engaging, grounded way. Starting at the corner of Somerset and Percy, the route will take as many shortcuts, hidden paths, and alleyways as possible to reach its end destination at Booth and Willow (near Gladstone).

This walk is a work of experiential performance art. Please come prepared to participate, ask questions, and maybe even get a little messy.

Route

From Somerset & Percy, we will walk south on Percy, through McNabb Park, across Bronson to Cambridge St. Public School, take a short circuit around Arthur and Christie St. West, and then south on Bell St to Gladstone. We then come across Gladstone to Booth, and north to end at Willow St.
